| THE CHILD LAW PRACTITIONERS COMMITTEE AND THE ADOPTION MONTH |
| Kenya became a state party to the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of International Adoption(1993) with effect 1st June 2007.
The Child Law Practitioners Committee of the Law Society of Kenya whish to inform the members that the Month of Novemebr 2009 has been declared the ADOPTION MONTH by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development. The month will be dedicated to events aimed at promoting Adoption of Children and destigmatisation of Adoption. It is estimated that there are 2.4 million orphaned children in Kenya out of which 470,00 comprise of children who are double orphans(Lost both parents).
